The following types of works are protected under copyright law in
Malaysia, whatever their quality and the purpose for which they were
created :-
- Original literary works recorded on some medium e.g. novels,
manuscripts, plays, reports, computer programs;
- Original musical works recorded on some medium;
- Original artistic works recorded on some medium, e.g.
paintings, engravings, photographs, sculptures, works of architecture,
diagrams (but excluding layout-designs of integrated circuits);
- Films;
- Sound recordings;
- Broadcasts;
- Published editions of works, i.e. the typographical arrangement of a
publication;
- Derivative works, e.g. translations and adaptations of copyright work;
collections of works or data.
